The Fuji track, theatre of the seventh round of the FIA World Endurance Championship gives Davide his first success of the season on the rainbow stage at the wheel of the Ferrari 296 LMGT3.
The triumph on board the number 54 car of the Vista AF Corse team, together with Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci, comes a year after the last success on the Japanese track, when the same crew had brought triumph to the 488 GTE.
Starting from ninth position, the number 54 car gained positions in the hands of Francesco Castellacci, who then left the wheel to Thomas Flohr for the middle part of the race. The last two hours were entrusted to the official driver of the Prancing Horse Davide Rigon, protagonist of several overtakes (nine in total) decisive for the final success. The 296 LMGT3 crossed the finish line at 5pm local time with 194 laps completed and a lead of almost four seconds over the first pursuer. The Fuji track proves to be very popular with all the drivers of the crew: this is the third win in Japan in the FIA WEC for Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci (2017, 2023, 2024) and the second for Davide Rigon (2023, 2024).
The eighth and final round of the season with the FIA WEC is scheduled from 31 October to 2 November with the 8 Hours of Bahrain.
