The thirteenth edition of the 12 Hours of the Gulf, an endurance event held on the track located on the island of Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, went into the archives with pole position and fastest lap in the race marked by Davide at the wheel of the number 11 Ferrari 296 GT3 of the Kessel Racing team.
With six victories to his credit, Davide confirmed himself perfectly at ease on the UAE track by taking, together with teammates Murat Cuhadaroglu, Giorgio Roda and David Fumanelli, third place, the result of an incredible comeback in the last four hours of the race.
The 2024 edition of the 12 Hours of the Gulf returns to the exclusive format that sees the race divided into two parts, with an initial eight-hour section followed, after a break of two, by a four-hour sprint. After the first session ended in sixth position with one lap to spare, Davide got behind the wheel of the Ferrari driving for three of the final four hours, managing to make up the losing lap bringing himself close to the podium before leaving the car to team-mate Roda for the last hour of the race.
Davide Rigon “It was a very tight race with a very high level both as drivers and teams. Personally I am very satisfied with the fastest lap in qualifying and in the race ending the season with a podium. It has been an exciting as well as challenging season around the world. Now, finally, some rest before starting again for 2025.”
Upcoming event: On Thursday, December 19, Davide will be at the Checco Costa Museum at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola on the occasion of Caschi d’Oro by Autosprint and Volanti ACI the event that every year rewards the excellence of Italian motorsport, and not only.
