From Silverstone to Spa-Francorchamps Davide and the team will take on the next in a series of tough challenges in Belgium this coming weekend. After a heated battle upon the English track last weekend the boys of the AF Corse team have their sights set on a successful day upon the Belgian track which boasts the famous Eau Rouge-Redillion. 7004 meters of adrenaline at 280 km/h, it’s the track where Davide Rigon and James Calado will push their Ferrari 458 GTE to the max in an eort to repeat the fantastic podium obtained during the inaugural FIA World Endurance Championship race.
The track is also known as the Ardenne Circuit, and is home to fans of racing of all types. Hard nosed racing runs in the blood of the locals of the area and fans turn out in droves to support both heroic cyclists as well as fearless pilots. Spa is a challenging circuit and Davide has risen to the occasion and obtained several important results such as the World FIA GT 24 Hours victory in 2008, a podium last season in addition to several other important results in the preliminary categories. In order to obtain such a succesful palmares at Spa Davide has had to master several tricky areas of the course:
Source, the rst corner after the nish line;
Les Cambes at the end of the long Kemmel straight;
Bus Stop which leads again at the nish line.
In addition to his obvious desire to win every race he participates in, Davide is also mindful of the importance of collecting as many points as possible for the Constructors’ Championship, thus putting the team in a position to secure yet another overall title for Ferrari this season.
“I can’t wait to get on track at Spa. It’s my favorite circuit, along with Monza. At Silverstone we proved that we have been working in the right direction together with the sta of Amato Ferrari. This weekend we will try to continue in the same direction and improve even further even if the limitations stemming from the BOP make it challenging. The Ardenne track is sensational and I hope to catch another important result. As in Silverstone, the weather will be an important factor, and our goal will be to bring home as many points as possible both for Ferrari and towards the Drivers classication. Last year James and I were on the podium in third place and we hope to better that this year” said Davide.
