After the collective tests at the beginning of the week, the European series officially kicked off with the 4 Hours of Barcelona. On the AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 51 with Davide, Charles-Henri Samani and Conrad Laursen. The first stage ended with a top-5 finish at the stroke of the fourth hour of the race. A possible podium finish was thwarted by a mishap at the last pit stop, which cost the team eleven seconds, in addition to damage to the car sustained in the first phase of the race, as Davide himself recounts:
‘The race up to the last pit stop had gone well, also in terms of strategy. Unfortunately, one of our mechanics stumbled and lost eleven seconds, causing us to slip down to fifth place. In addition, the car had suffered front-end damage, compromising the aerodynamics. In spite of everything, a fifth place that gives morale in view of the next rounds, especially because we started from eleventh place.”
Next weekend Davide will be back on track, at Paul Ricard for the opening round of the GT World Endurance.
